Finding My Passion

Hobbies, passions, callings.  What do those even mean?  Recently while reading a book* about finding time for me, it asked what my passion was.  What got my heart to racing.  As my son put it, what makes me smile when it is mentioned.  After 20+ years of marriage and 18+ years of motherhood, I DON'T KNOW.  In previous blog posts under a different site, I have explored different 'hobbies'.  As I read through them, I realize that I never stay with anything too long.  I'm not sure if I loose interest or run out of time to finish the project and just never go back.  After years of being a chauffeur and biggest fan to basketball games, softball games, cross country meets, academic meets, student council projects, I'm not sure what my passion is apart from my kids.   After teaching in the same area for 20+ years, I LOVE my job, but I'm looking for a passion that is outside of school.  I'm looking for something that I can't wait to work on through the weekends.  Something that makes me manage my time better, so I  have an hour to work on it.  Something that makes my heart race and I want to tell someone.  As my son put it, something that makes me smile when it is mentioned.  My time of ballgames and school activities is not yet over and I don't want to wish those years away.  But I also want to find me. I guess it will be trial and error and my son has a few ideas.  I will  to try new things. My quest will continue to find my hobby, my passion, my calling.
